Once again, Jessica, a great and short video booktalk. I like that you took on one of our more difficult titles, and the way you presented it makes it that much easier to deal with in even a first or second grade classroom. Kids might still have difficult questions for us, but the story becomes one of overcoming life's difficulties, not just about slavery, and with that focus, we can deal with the horrors of slavery in a much more positive way. That is, we can discuss it as an very ugly time in our history, but that there are countless stories of victory and brotherhood as well.
